While all of HARRI’s collections have been central to his success, perhaps none might be as pertinent as SS25.
HARRI’s fifth instalment at London Fashion Week for SS25 was a true amplification of his aesthetic. After testing his limits during his NEMO collaboration - creating a gigantic dress that filled the stage - he knew he wanted to keep up his boundary-pushing momentum but found himself at a crossroads, uncertain of his next steps forward and which direction to follow. HARRI was also intrigued by the concept of a fully ready-to-wear collection, having gravitated previously toward avant-garde design. Therefore, in choosing a different path altogether, HARRI presented SS25 as his debut womenswear collection - one that explores the legacy of the past and the opportunity of the future.
In conceiving a series of characters from an otherworldly realm, HARRI navigates the relationship between tradition and innovation. Walking to the musical creations of Bon Music Vision, operatic vocals and haunting strings, infused with dark, techno beats guided the characters in apocalypse-esque designs - a harmony of signature HARRI pieces and fresh silhouettes. The entire collection is made entirely of latex with a blend of ready-to-wear pieces and cutting edge designs. The womenswear pieces in particular showcased a chic but edgy look for HARRI, as well as heightened proportions and silhouettes that stayed true to the brand’s vision. Naturally, it would not be truly HARRI without inflatables, which explored a new lease of life found in an alternate universe. For the first time we witnessed conjoined craft - intricately created pieces that connected twins and triplets together, demonstrating HARRI’s boundless imagination and commitment to artisanry.
In considering how he would design in another world, SS25 takes inspiration from Wolfe Von Lenkiewicz and his ability to bridge traditional oil painting with contemporary technology. His work masterfully preserves the soul of the Renaissance with a modern perspective. Curated masterpieces are reinterpreted through AI technologies, rendered back to life with his oil painting artistry. The women he so meticulously depicts - powerful, regal and at times irreverent - are portrayed with the poise of French Romanticism and the resilience of the modern-day woman. The result is a harmonious balance between the digital and the tactile; a masterclass in converging tradition with innovation.
This collection signifies HARRI’s continued commitment to craftsmanship and exaggerated proportions while exploring the boundaries of impossibility. Working by hand is HARRI’s most sacred practice, seeking solace in its calming and therapeutic process. Each look, entirely assembled by hand, has been constructed to the model, taking inspiration from their distinctive aura and physique. It is a process that celebrates the power of their uniqueness while transforming them into powerful characters, highlighting a metamorphosis of HARRI’s viewpoint into a meticulously constructed ready-to-wear collection, centred on possibility and unknown discoveries.
Continuing to champion the disruptor, this new collection is reflective and fantastical. There are numerous impressive talents who have contributed to bringing SS25 to life. Firstly, we would like to express our unwavering gratitude to Tré, our show director, for his exceptional styling, casting, and direction of the show, and to the incomparable Gabriele Esposito for movement direction. We would like to thank Bon Music Vision for the musical mastery that accompanied our characters down the runway, and extend our deepest thanks to Adam Garland (Authentic Beauty Concept) and David Gillers (Ellis Faas) for their artistic contributions to hair and makeup.
